Learn To Play Hockey

Rhinelander Ice Association offers a Try Hockey Free/Learn to Play Hockey program each fall. This program was initiated by a donation from the Padgett Family and we have been able to continue to offer this program to the community with continued donations from the Padgett's and other individuals.

Our program includes all necessary equipment. There is absolutely no cost to do the Try Hockey for Free Program.

Fall 2024 Program Information

The practice times will be from 5:15-6:15 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays - beginning Monday October 21 and ending Wednesday November 13. We may also add a few Saturday sessions, we will inform you of those dates.

Information for equipment fitting and other specifics will be provided via email closer to the start date.

Equipment will be provided for this session at no charge. There is no registration fee for this session.

Those that continue on into the regular hockey program will be responsible for paying the USA Hockey Registration / Insurance Fee (approx. $65 depending on player age) and will also be responsible for first year volunteer hour requirements for the Rhinelander Ice Assocation. There will be no program fee charged thanks to donations we have received from the Padgett Family and other donors.

The primary ages we are looking for with this session is ages 3-8. It is available to older ages as well though. This session will teach the very basics of hockey beginning with skating skills.
